WETHERSPOONS has confirmed it is keen to press ahead with a new pub in a service station on the M40.
Eddie Gershon, a spokesman for the pub chain, told the BFP the controversial plans for a bar in the Beaconsfield Services at junction 2 are still in the early stages.
He said: “We are happy to say that our intention is to operate a Wetherspoon pub at the service station.
“However, at present there are still negotiations taking place.”
Wetherspoons are not able to confirm a timescale for the new venture at this early stage.
If the pub goes ahead, it will be the first of its kind in the country at a motorway services.
