Burglars even took my little girl's moneybox

Burglars even took my little girl's moneybox Burglars even took my little girl's moneybox

A FATHER told how low-life burglars broke into his little girl’s bedroom and took her moneybox.

Darren Whitehead, 40, returned to his Westcliff home to find it had been ransacked after the back door was smashed open.

But he was most dismayed to find they had been into his daughter Ella’s bedroom at the house in Highfield Gardens, Westcliff, and turned it upside down.

They had even sunk as low as to rifle through her Barbie jewellery box, which just contained some cheap costume trinkets.

They found her money tins containing loose change, and took two of them, leaving only the one with the coppers inside.

But they had also managed to find the cash Mr Whitehead was saving for her eighth birthday next week so they could go out shopping.

He said: ”They have no morals, if they had any they wouldn’t be breaking into a property in the first place I guess.

“I’m more angry than anything else, because all the things can be replaced, but on Saturday night Ella was too scared to sleep in her own bedroom.”

Mr Whitehead hopes people may have spotted the crooks as they would have looked very distinctive as they made their getaway with his large-framed bike holding a pink shoulder bag.

The burglary happened between 6pm last Thursday and 7pm the following day. Anyone with information should call Southend police on 101.

Disgusting. Hopefully she will forget what happened, but no kid should have to deal with this. Good luck finding the pond scum!

no surprise there really, after all scum like these burglars have no morals or ethics so to them everything is fair game

They need to make the punishment more severe. Life with no parole. I will be writing to the Chief of Police. Im scared to go out.

Cancer is such a terrible illness but I hope the parasite who done this and any other person that breaks into a private house gets cancer and suffers for months.

Scum.

But as there is now deterrent, these crimes will just get more and more frequent.

This is what Police and Crime Commissioner Nick Alston has to say about burglaries.

Yellow Advertiser - Thursday, 13 December 2012

The shrinking budget will also leave Mr Alston facing difficult choices about which crimes to tackle. Arguably Essex’s biggest problem is burglary, which has risen steadily in many areas in recent years – but Mr Alston says there is little he can do to tackle it. He would rather channel resources into tackling the high number of deaths and injuries on the county’s highways.
“If you’re a good burglar and you don’t leave a forensic trail, you’re not going to get caught unless somebody grasses you up,” he says.
“I would rather have a really good information campaign to members of the public to buy a decent lock on your front door. If everyone had a good lock on your door and locked it, you’d have far less burglary. That’s the simple fact.
“Burglary matters, but 750 people being seriously injured or killed every year matters a hell of a lot more to me. Preventing road casualties is probably more tractable as a problem than burglary. So what do we really care about? That’s the debate.”

Not if one of the scumbags has broken into your home, ransacked the place, rifled through all your possessions, stolen your jewellery and money and left you with a bill to boot. Under those circumstances it's very restrained and reasonable.

Not an odd comment at all. Do you know how many people have died after being burgled. How many people have got ill had strokes had a lifetime of depression anxiety. These house breakers should be put to death or get cancer and suffer. Also rapist and paedophile's should also suffer cancer. Nothing odd about my thoughts. Odd that you commented about them !

Obviously we would hope that these people are caught and sent to prison which makes me wonder if any of you good posters have been listening to the Human Zoo on Radio 4. Last week it discussed how the prison system may not work because people become accustomed to prison life. Therefore, ex offenders only remember the end of their term being easier than how they felt when they started their sentence. It suggested that prison should get progressively harder which would make people less likely to re-offend.

Slightly off topic but an interesting subject. Maybe bring back hard labour?

Whilst I totally disagree with people having to develop a fatal illness which far too many people have had in their family, and which I would never wish on these young and stupid yobs, the majority of whom are hooked into a drug habit they can't afford, have no real motivation in life except drugs and seem to get their kicks from "Outwitting" the Police, Feel that perhaps there is a solution, not requiring the Gestapo action you lot seem to desire. Sadly, the drop in education standards (Who remembers the "We should never have educated the masses" Cynicism from the right wing rich?), along with the sense that the rulers don't give a jot in doing something to actually motivate the sink estate mentality that is now rife among those same kids is pointing to something a bit nasty in the corridors of power.

However, has anybody been watching "Caught red handed" on BBC most weekday mornings? If you can, watch a few episodes (On Iplayer because I'm sure you all have to work weekdays) and having done so, perhaps we could all encourage our own Police service to try and set up the kind of traps shown there. We know they did it with the car thefts in Basildon once before and it was very effective. All we need is for the CPS to toughen it's stance a little and then make sure these stupid louts get big chunks of community service and perhaps this type of crime could be wiped out. Give the programme a try and see what you think. You will have to stick with it because it has it's share of "Coming Up..."

They will be back once you have renewed everything.
You need a security system but don't get ripped off by some of these cowboy alarm companies who are worse than burglars.
Get a Police approved alarm system.
We got advice from a retired Policeman who now runs a local alarm company from Brook Road Rayleigh it has been in after 5 years and we have never had a problem.
Plus we got good advice from him and we felt more secure.

Sorry I should have said we were burgled twice before we got an alarm system, we called in 4 companies and 2 of those were useless.

"Sadly, the drop in education standards (Who remembers the "We should never have educated the masses" Cynicism from the right wing rich?), "

Well anyone benefitting from 'education, education, education' from '97 and the subsequent 13 years thereafter were 'educated' by er..........

Simply, there is no deterrant. Crime does pay and it pays very nicely. The only time you will do 'time' is if you steal from the state or refuse to buy a TV licence.

This will continue until the scumbags are dealt senances that hit hard. And if they have come here from another country, send them back instantly with no chance of them ever returning.

I fully agree with proper, harsh punishment for all and deportation for any foreign national found guilty of any crime BUT.. I lost both my parents to cancer and nursed them through their last months watching them suffer indescribably. Your association with crime and punishment and wishing terminal illness on people is in my opinion odd and rather upsetting in brining back those memories.

If anybody wants to complain about the levels of burglaries in Essex, I refer you all back to my original post on this story that details the newly elected Police an Crime Commissioners thoughts on this subject. Write to him. He has been democratically elected. Start lobbying him now!
