Man kicked and punched in attempted mugging

THREE thugs attacked a man after he fled when they tried to rob his mobile phone.

The victim was approached at Fairfax Drive junction with Northview Drive in Westcliff when they demanded the phone, but did not get the phone.

He ran but they caught him and punched and kicked him.

Investigating officer, Dc Mark Sawyer said: "The injuries could have been worse if it wasn’t for his own family hearing his cries for help. I am keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time at 12.40am on Friday, March 1.”

The suspects are described as white, aged 17 to 19, around 5ft 11ins tall. One was of average build wearing a brown Adidas hoodie, the other was stocky with short or shaven hair, wearing a black Adidas zip up hoodie.

Anyone with information should call Dc Sawyer on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

'Three thugs attacked a man after he fled when they tried to rob his mobile phone. '

Surely they tried to rob the man, not his mobile phone as this is an inanimate object?

How are the english lessons going?

So the 2 scroats that attempted to rob my son were up in Southend court last week.
They pleaded guilty at the last minute coz if we had not turned up the case would have been thrown out & they would have got away with it.
The sentence... one year referral order (whatever that is) £15 court costs & (Name deleted) got a 3 month curfew (even tho the offence happened in the after noon) :-(

My son got his coat ripped, a punch in the face, 1/2 a day up the cop shop, his coat & trainers taken for DNA testing, his sick Mum had to accompany him to the cop shop, missed his day out with his mates, a day off school in his GCSE year to attend court, his Dad had to change shift at work, not to mention any mental anguish caused.

Oh well that's British justice for ya, they must be laughing all the way to their next victim :-(

Another day, another mugging, assault, robbery, rape, or burglary, etc, in the Borough.

Suppose it makes a change though for it not to be Southchurch Road.

Would like to know what inititives Southend Council are pursuing to help combat this escalating crime spree?
(They seam to be more interested in pink bags and double yellow lines!)

The justice system (or lack thereof) is completley unfit for purpose and seems to be failing the public now on a monumental scale... It's difficult to understand their motives for such a dereliction of duty, however its also difficult to understand what SBC can do ? These are rapidly becoming very dangerous times, with no prospect of improvement any time soon.....
