Teenager faces youth court...three hours before GCSE exam

A TEENAGE shoplifter had to face youth court three hours before his maths GCSE.
The 16-year-old who had stolen a bottle of Disaronno and then tried to run out of Sainsburys chased by a security guard.
Unfortunately for him, the electric doors did not open and they ended up with a scuffle - breaking the door in the process.
Southend Youth Court heard the 16-year-old wanted to take the almond-flavoured licqueur to a party. But because he was too young to buy it legally he tried to steal it.
Paul Markham, mitigating, said:“He has a GCSE exam today, a maths exam, at 1.30pm. He is hoping to get there after today’s hearing.”
He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and must pay a £10 victiim surcharge and £12 compensation for the bottle.
Sainsbury’s had also written to his father to negotiate compensation for the door.
