Drugs raid in Westcliff

POLICE raided a Westcliff home to find cannabis and amphetamines inside.

They stormed the house in Ramuz Drive at about 1am today after bashing the door down.

About ten officers burst into the property brandishing a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

They searched seven people they found inside.

A 25-year-old man of no fixed address was caught with a small amount of cannabis and amphetamines.

He admitted possession of a class B drug and was given a caution.

a right result then.

10 officers going through the door for a caution, a bit of whizz and some weed....

Which one of those drugs wasn't he cautioned for?

All that for a caution. Surely they can do better than that.

you should go down Satanita road in Westcliff, I used to live there for a few years and there's a scumbag on benefit who sells drugs, but the police never did anything bout it even tho they found needles and other drugs in his flat.

I guess it depends on what you mean by 'better'... Could be charged, handed to the courts to be issued a fine, which would either not be paid or probably paid out of benefits. Or, prison, at the tax payers expense to 'protect the public' from the henious crime of sitting in his flat, stoned.... however, those very precious police resources could be directed at, knife point muggers, knife point car jackers, or pick pockets that target the disabled.... Not hearing of too many arrests in the cases of these slightly more troubling offeces....

How does selling drugs make someone a scumbag? There providing a service for users and the public. I used to sell Coke and E, but I never used to take it, and I had to ensure I kept myself in tip top condition at the gym incase if I was ever caught up in anything such as someone trying to rob me. Thats like saying off licenses and supermarkets are scum bags because they sell tobacco and alcohol, which are both hardened drugs. Living honestly aint going to get you know where Mary Anne darling.

Tobacco and alcohol are not "hardened drugs". Personally i would also include cannabis in this braket but certainly NOT coke.

So you sell coke to others but would not touch it yourself. How does that make someone a scumbag?....well, it depends on your definition of a scumbag.

l agree with some of that. lt is a FACT that cigarettes cause cancer in some people, mainly those who have the cancer gene, unfortunately it runs in some families, it also causes COPD, a very debilitating and potential killer, many people die from that each year.
And alcohol cause thousands of deaths every year, either gradually as in cirosis of the liver or more directly ie through overdose, yet neither alchohol or cigarettes are banned, even though they do FAR MORE harm!!

l find this completely illogical, to allow people to freely obtain that which can and does kill, while banning a drug like cannibis, which to my knowledge has never cause a death, and the argument put forward by some that it automatically leads to hard drugs have never been proven.
