A BOWLING alley is going from strength-to-strength as it prepares to celebrate the anniversary of its re-opening.

Three days of cut-price games, lessons and a public tournament will help 1st Bowl celebrate a successful first year since it opened in the Kursaal, Southend, tomorrow.

The firm, which saved four jobs after previous owners closed the seafront attraction in November 2011, enjoyed its busiest Saturday since opening last weekend, with almost double the usual number of customers visiting.

Duty manager Johnathan Race said: “It’s definitely been very busy. It’s very exciting.

“There has always been a bowling alley here, so it’s definitely needed.

“We get a lot of families in, so we are bringing people together.”

All games will be £2 all day tomorrow in celebration of the anniversary.

The alley will host bowling tournaments on Saturday morning and Sunday evening and a punch ball tournament on Saturday night.

There will also be karaoke and a care in the community disco during the day on Monday.
