Teenager who collapsed in Southend nightclub dies

A HEALTHY teenaged boy who suddenly collapsed in a Southend nightclub has died.
Mark Abbott, 18, suffered a heart attack at Mayhem nightclub in Warrior Square in the early hours of last Tuesday.
He was rushed to Southend Hospital, where he suffered another cardiac arrest, and passed away three days later.
John Tidbury, a friend and neighbour of the youngster’s parents, Simon and Sue Abbott, paid tribute to the computer mad youngster on behalf of his family.
The former Cecil Jones College pupil lived with his parents in Newington Avenue, Southend, and leaves behind his brothers Jamie, 24, and Luke, 16, and sister Leane 22.
Mr Tidbury, 42 of Newington Avenue, Southend said: “It is all still raw for them.''

However I do wish jounalists could get it right.
A heart attack is when the heart muscle dies as not enough blood is getting to it. A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops beating and can be caused by many things such as irregular electrical activity or blood loss. A cardiac arrest can occur as a result of a heart attack BUT it is NOT the same thing!
