Southend Airport parking firm operating without planning permission

A PRIVATE company offering valet parking at Southend Airport has been leaving customers’ cars on an unauthorised industrial estate site.
Southend Airport Car Park Ltd, which operates under the name Safe Affordable Convenient Parking or SACP, has been told to apply for planning permission by Southend Council if it wants to continue its operation.
The firm was set up in June to take advantage of the boom at the airport, sparked by easyJet’s arrival in April.
However its bosses failed to apply for permission to use derelict land off Coopers Way, on the Temple Farm industrial estate, Southend, as its base.
Lorraine Larman, the company’s financial director, said: “We believed there was already permission for vehicle storage, but it appears that expired a couple of years ago.
“We’re confident we will get planning permission.
“We’ve had very good reviews, a number of repeat customers and we’re not causing any trouble.”
