A BOLTON band are set to star in an episode of a new prime time TV programme.

The Three, made up of band members Ian Edmunson, from Farnworth, Graham Fielden, from Daisy Hill, and Ian Taylor, from St Helens, star in the third episode of the new ITV drama Girlfriends.

Styled as the Rubix Rollers, the band will be performing a song joined on stage by Carole played by Paula Wilcox. The band recorded the song in one take and then filmed other scenes with the rest of the cast later. Drummer, Mr Fielden, and guitarist, Mr Taylor, have also had cameo roles as extras in scenes in the first two episodes of the series.

Mr Edmundson, bassist in The Three, said: “We have done all sorts of things in the past, but this is a biggie for us. It was great fun and it was a really really nice thing to do. It’s an adventure going on TV and it’s your 15 minutes of fame.”

Written by Kay Mellor, Girlfriends tells the story of three life-long friends played by Phyllis Logan, Zoë Wanamaker and Miranda Richardson.

Mr Edmunson added The Three joined the show after an agent hired by drummer Mr Fielden found a part that required a grumpy looking drummer.

The Three were formed in 2016 after hosting a jam session in Tyldesley.

Tune in to Girlfriends on ITV at 9pm on January 17 to see The Three in action.

The band will also be playing dates across Bolton in 2018, including at Hogarths, in Churchgate on January 26; at the Bowling Green, in Horwich, on January 27; and at Bent and Bongs Beer Bash, in Atherton, on February 2.
