Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews spoke with warmth and emotion about his late brother Michael Matthews on a Loose Women special entitled Loose Women & Men.

The 26-year-old was a guest panellist on the hit ITV show alongside ex-EastEnders star Larry Lamb and Joe Swash.

Among the topics discussed was one about making parents proud, which used remarks made by Prince Harry about his late mother Princess Diana as a jump-off point.

“I lost my brother when I was 10,” Spencer said. “He was the youngest Brit to reach the summit of Mount Everest and died when he was 22. He lives on in our family, we celebrate his birthday every year.”

Michael disappeared on his way down the mountain in 1999. He was the 162nd person to die on Everest.

Asked by presenter Andrea McLean if he felt pressure living up to his brother’s memory, Spencer admitted that it is a “tough” legacy.

“He’s a very tough person to live up to. But I try and treat every day as he would. Just try every day to be more like him.”

During the topic-filled hour, Spencer also revealed that before he attended boarding school, a best friend’s mother had provided “pornographic material” to the young boys.

“She was just trying to be a cool mother,” he told the stunned panel.

The ladies in the studio audience were also given a thrill when Spencer and Larry undid their shirt buttons to show off their chest hair as the panel discussed men, make-up and grooming.

There was a less edifying moment when Loose Women & Men went all I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! on viewers and the panellists crunched into insect delicacies.
