Eddie Murphy is in talks to portray Richard Pryor’s father in an upcoming biopic.
The Nutty Professor star is tipped to play LeRoy ‘Buck Carter’ Pryor in Lee Daniels’ big-screen take on the late comedian’s life, reported Entertainment Tonight.
Mike Epps will play the Grammy-winning stand-up star, who often joked about his tough childhood in his sets, in the Weinstein Company biopic.
Kate Hudson is said to be joining the cast as Richard’s wife Jennifer Lee Pryor.
They married in 1981 and divorced in 1982, before remarrying in 2001, and Jennifer is a producer on the movie along with Bruce Cohen.
Director Lee fuelled the stories after sharing a photo of himself with Eddie on Instagram.
“Strap in and brace yourself. They done let me and him out of our cages! #idonteventhinkimreadyforthisone! #excited #proud #OMG,” he wrote.
Richard, who was raised by his brothel madam grandmother and alcoholic father, died in December 2005.
