WELSH indie boys the Muscle Club will give the crowd a good work out when they play the Railway Hotel, next week.
The Cardiff quartet, who create uncompromising indie pop songs, will appear at the Southend venue, in support of their debut mini album.
Fragmented Ideas from Young Lungs sees the band blast through six tracks of melodic, jangly and angular art-pop, in a similar style to their influences the Cribs and the Smiths.
The outfit, which formed just over a year ago, have spent the past six months touring with the likes of Cursive, Johnny Foreigner, Dananananaykroyd and Black Lips.
They also recorded a live session at BBC’s Maida Vale studios and have been highly praised by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.
The Muscle Club’s co frontmen Michael Bateson-Hill and Matthew Hitt, will bring their heartfelt lyrics, backed up by bassist Ceri Jones and drummer Jordan Hayward’s tight rhythm section, to the venue in Clifftown Road, on Friday, July 17.
Doors open at 8pm and entry is £4.
