UK audiences have voted on their favourite TV matriarch, heralding Marge Simpson as the most loved mum on the small screen.
It is her long-suffering patience and kind nature that makes her so admired, according to the Telegraph, which announced the results of the survey conducted by Vouchercodes.co.uk.
The top three positions were completed by Pamela Shipman from Gavin and Stacey, and Susan Harper from My Family, the paper reported, while other mums on the list included Barbara Royle, Peggy Mitchell and Susan Kennedy of Neighbours.
Only a few days away from Mothers Day, the same researchers asked 3,000 British mums what they would like to receive on the day. Co-founder of Vouchercodes.co.uk Duncan Jennings said: "Simple things such as a break from housework were overwhelming favourites … almost 44 per cent of British mothers said they would most like to be taken out for dinner."
As people prepare for the special Sunday, the Newbury Times revealed that more than 450 loving messages have been printed in its publication this week.
