Bay City sensation

SEVENTIES heart-throb Les McKe-own will be coming to Thurrock next month to sing for fans of his former chart-topping band, the Bay City Rollers. The singer, whose face was to be found on tens of thousands of teenage girls’ walls in the band’s heyday is playing at the Thameside Theatre, in Orsett Road, Grays on Friday, October 17. The Scottish band were a pop phenomenon from 1973 onwards. Led by McKeown, the band’s singles and albums shot to the top of the charts all over the globe. Massive hits such as Bye Bye Baby, Shang A Lang, Summer Love Sensation and Give A Little Love propelled the band to worldwide superstardom. The show which is coming to the Thameside, Bay City Rollers Story, is a celebration of the band’s songs, tours, and TV Shows with McKeown also giving an insight into the behind-the-scenes pandemonium which followed the Rollers everywhere they went.

Crooks cut off car park pay machines

THIEVES used an angle grinder to cut off two pay and display machines at a busy Canvey car park – taking one with them and dumping the other on a nearby beach.
